Robert "Burglar" Ferguson

Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame Bio:

Robert Ferguson born November 18, 1893 in Glace Bay, Cape Breton. A truly great hockey player, he starred on many Nova Scotian teams before and after World War I. In 1913, Ferguson was a member of the Sydney Millionaires team that challenged the Quebec Bulldogs for the Stanley Cup. The playoff games in those days were held in early March, and the Bulldogs defeated the Millionaires by scores of 14-3 and 6-2 on March 8 and 10 respectively.

In 1915, Ferguson played for the Glace Bay Miners in the Eastern Professional Hockey League, along with James Wilkie and Jack Chisholm. Ferguson played in this short-lived league until it folded. In 1923, Robert played hockey with the Cape Breton professional team the Glace Bay Miners. Also playing on this team were Hall of Famers Jimmy Fraser and Jack MacDonald. Robert Ferguson is an Original Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame Inductee. He passed away September 15, 1954.
