Mike Murphy was a fantastic hockey player in the Nova Scotia Senior Hockey League between 1905 and 1915. In 1906, Murphy played for the New Glasgow Colts, who won the Nova Scotia Senior Championship by defeating the Halifax Wanderers 7-1 in a "sudden death" playoff game.
In 1910, he played for the North Sydney Victorias with fellow Original Hall of Famers Frank "Stonewall" Morrison, Neil Wilkie, and William Dunphy. This team challenged for the Halifax Professional Hockey Championship Title. Halifax triumphed by winning 2 games to 1.
In 1911, Mike went on to play for the New Glasgow Cubs with Frank Morrison and Thurston Cooke. He played with the New Glasgow Black Foxes in 1913, finishing out his career with this team in 1915. Mike Murphy is an Original Sport Hall of Fame Inductee.
